Sterra Sun — Tank Indicator Always Lit UpUpdated 2 days ago

If your Sterra Sun tank indicator light is constantly glowing—and the machine refuses to run even though the water tank is completely empty—the system's automatic safety shut-off has gotten stuck.

This happens when the machine can't detect the tank properly, or when the small magnetic float switch inside the water bucket gets jammed or flipped during cleaning. Follow these simple steps to unstick the sensor and get your machine running again:

The Tank and Sensor Float Alignment Sequence

1.1. Power off and slide the water tank out: Prepare for adjustment.

Turn your Sterra Sun off and pull the water tank completely out of the back of the machine. Empty out any remaining water.

2.2. Inspect and unstick the sensor float: Check the magnetic sensor.

Look inside the water tank for the small, floating plastic piece (the float valve). Sometimes this piece gets flipped upside down or jammed by lint or hair after emptying. Ensure it can bounce up and down freely on its hinge.

3.3. Firmly slide the tank back into place: Ensures switch engagement.

Slide the tank back into the base of the machine. Make sure it is pushed in firmly and completely flush against the housing. If it is even slightly crooked, the internal micro-switch won't click shut. Turn the machine on to see if the light clears.

Still seeing the indicator light after these checks?

If you have verified that the float moves freely and the tank is seated perfectly straight, but the indicator light still refuses to turn off, your unit has an internal sensor short or a power board communication fault.
