Sterra Sun — Control Panel Displays L3 or L4 Flashing or BlinkingUpdated 2 days ago

If your Sterra Sun display panel starts flashing or blinking an L3 or L4 error code, your machine's automated safety guards have been activated.

Why is this happening?

To protect its internal cooling components from permanent damage, the Sterra Sun monitors the temperature of the air it pulls inside. If the air around the machine gets hotter than 43°C, the system automatically shuts down its compressor (the cooling engine) to prevent a blowout. The fan will continue to blow at a slow speed to help cool the internal parts down.

Follow these steps to clear the error and safely restore your machine:

The Thermal Reset & Relocation Protocol

1.1. Assess runtime and temperature: Identify if the machine is overworked.

Check if your Sterra Sun has been running non-stop 24/7. Lightly place your hands on the outer casing—does the body of the machine feel notably hot or warm to the touch?

2.2. Power down and cool for 1 hour: Lets the compressor depressurize.

If the machine feels warm, turn it off and completely unplug it from the wall for at least 1 full hour. This lets the internal circuit board rest and allows the internal temperatures to drop back to baseline levels.

3.3. Move the unit to a cooler location: Prevents heat recirculation.

Before plugging it back in, relocate your Sterra Sun. Ensure it is sitting in a well-ventilated, cooler area, at least 30cm away from walls, windows exposed to direct sunlight, or other heat-generating appliances.

What if the error comes right back?

If you turn the machine back on after an hour of rest and the L3 or L4 code continues to flash, or if the machine was completely cool to begin with and has been running for less than 24 hours, the internal sensor itself is faulty.
