Sterra S — Unpleasant Taste or Odour from Dispensed WaterUpdated an hour ago

If the water dispensed from your Sterra S suddenly has an unusual taste or a noticeable smell, it doesn't mean your machine is broken. In most cases, this happens when mineral sediment settles in the lines or when a dusty rear filter traps ambient kitchen heat, subtly shifting the water's profile.

Follow this quick maintenance and deep-flushing routine to instantly refresh your water quality:

The Internal Line Purge Sequence

1.1. Power off the unit:System Reset.

Locate the main power switch on the back of your Sterra S and turn it OFF. This pauses the internal cooling and heating elements while you refresh the system.

2.2. Wash the rear dust filter:Restores cool operating temps.

Slide out the mesh dust filter from the back panel of the machine. Wash it thoroughly under running tap water to remove lint or dust that could be trapping heat inside the machine. Shake off excess moisture and allow it to dry completely before sliding it back into place.

3.3. Turn the power back on:Re-initialize electronics.

Once the filter is dry and reinserted, flip the rear power switch back to the ON position and allow the display panel to fully initialize.

4.4. Activate the automatic internal flush:Purges internal lines.

Place a large container or pitcher underneath the dispensing nozzle. Press and hold the Filter button and the Volume button together for 5 full seconds. The Sterra S will beep and begin an automatic high-velocity internal line flush to clear out any stagnant water or mineral sediment.

5.5. Wait for completion and test:Quality check.

Let the flushing cycle run its course until the machine stops dispensing automatically. Once completed, dispense a fresh glass of water to confirm that the clean, crisp, and odorless taste has been perfectly restored.
