Sterra S — How to Deactivate Child Lock or Safety LockUpdated 2 hours ago
For your family's safety, your Sterra S is programmed out of the box with an automatic Child Safety Lock on the hot water function. This lock ensures that hot water cannot be dispensed by accident, preventing painful scalds.
If you do not have small children in your household and want quicker, one-touch access to your tea, coffee, or warm water, you can easily turn this lock off.
Follow these quick steps to deactivate the safety lock:
The 3-Second Unlock Sequence
You can perform this shortcut at any time while the machine is plugged in, turned on, and sitting idle.
Locate the Hot Water button and the Dispense button on your touch control panel.
Place two fingers down and press and hold both the Hot Water and Dispense buttons together at the exact same time.
Keep holding both buttons down firmly for 3 to 5 continuous seconds.
Listen for the Tone: The very moment you hear an audible "beep" from the machine, release your fingers. The lock icon on the screen will disappear, meaning your hot water lines are completely unlocked and ready.
Important Things to Remember:
The Power-Trip Auto Lock: If your home experiences a power flash, or if you manually turn off the main switch at the back of the machine for a cleaning reset, the Sterra S will automatically re-engage the Child Lock by default when it boots back up. If this happens, simply repeat the quick 3-second shortcut above to clear it again.
To Re-Activate the Lock: If young children come to visit and you want to turn the safety shield back on, simply hold the Hot Water + Dispense buttons down together for 5 seconds until you hear the confirmation beep.
