Sterra Ray — Not Working Well or Reduced PerformanceUpdated 3 hours ago

If your Sterra Ray seems to be running constantly but your room still feels damp, or if you notice the water tank is filling up much slower than usual, don't worry. This "sluggish" performance is almost always caused by restricted breathing room or a clogged dust filter rather than a broken machine.

To restore your dehumidifier's maximum water extraction speed, perform these two simple maintenance checks:

1. Wash the Rear Air Filter (Restores Internal Airflow)

Your Sterra Ray cannot extract moisture from the air if it cannot pull the air inside. Over a few months of regular use, floating dust, lint, and pet dander create an invisible mat across the back mesh screen, suffocating the machine.

  • The Fix: Turn off and completely unplug your Sterra Ray.

  • Slide the plastic air filter panel off the back of the device.

  • Take the filter to your sink and rinse it thoroughly under warm running water to wash away all accumulated dust layers. Alternatively, use a vacuum hose with a brush attachment to clear it.

  • Important: Let the mesh dry completely before snapping it back onto the machine.

2. Clear the Air Vents & Give the Unit "Breathing Room"

If the machine is pushed tight against a couch, hidden under a desk, or placed right up against a wall, it will continually trap and re-breathe its own exhausted dry air instead of circulating the room's damp air.

  • The Fix: Walk around your Sterra Ray and ensure there is at least 20 cm (about 8 inches) of completely open, unobstructed space on all sides of the unit.

  • Inspect the top air outlet grille and the side vents. Clear away any stray plastic wrap, curtains, loose paper sheets, or dense pet hair clumps that might have drifted against the grilles.

Pro-Tips for Peak Moisture Extraction

  • Keep Doors & Windows Closed: Running a dehumidifier with an open window is like running an air conditioner with the front door open—new damp outdoor air will continuously rush inside, making it look like the machine isn't doing its job.

  • Check Your Room Temperature: Dehumidifiers extract water significantly faster in warm, humid conditions. If your room is cold (below 15°C), the moisture extraction process naturally slows down to prevent internal ice buildup. This is normal behavior!

If your filter is perfectly clean, your vents have wide open space, and your room is warm and closed tight, but the machine still collects zero water after a 24-hour test run, your internal cooling system may have dropped its charge. Please contact our Live Support Team
