Sterra Ray — CH Error on ScreenUpdated 3 hours ago

If your Sterra Ray Dehumidifier has stopped running and is flashing "CH" on its digital display, don't worry! This is a built-in safety feature rather than a permanent hardware failure.

"CH" stands for Component Heat protection. It means the internal Relative Humidity (RH) sensor has detected that the machine is getting too warm (usually above 35°C), or that dust is blocking the sensor from reading the room's air correctly.

Please follow these four quick steps to reset the sensor and get your machine back to drying your space:

1. Give the Machine a Cool-Down Break

When a dehumidifier works hard in a warm or tightly enclosed room, heat can naturally build up inside the chassis.

  • The Fix: Turn off the power button and unplug your Sterra Ray from the wall completely. Leave it completely unplugged for 1 to 2 hours to let the internal coils drop back down to safe room-temperature levels.

2. Move It Out of the Corner (Give It Room to Breathe)

If your Sterra Ray is tucked too close to a wall, a wardrobe, or curtains, the hot air it vents out will get trapped and pulled right back into the intake grill, causing it to overheat.

  • The Fix: Move the unit so there is at least 20 cm (about 8 inches) of completely open space all the way around the machine. Never run it inside a cramped, closed closet.

3. Wipe the Sensor Grid & Filter

If the sensor behind the grill gets blanketed in household dust or lint, it won't get accurate readings and will trigger a false "CH" safety block.

  • The Fix: While the unit is cooling down, slide off the back air filter panel. Give the mesh filter a quick rinse or vacuum to remove dust, and gently wipe down the intake area with a dry microfiber cloth before putting it back together.

4. Limit Your Heavy Sessions

To prolong the life of your Sterra Ray's motor and keep it from hitting its safety temperature limit:

  • Try to cap continuous runtime to a maximum of 8 hours per session. Giving the unit a brief rest between long cycles prevents the sensor from triggering the CH code again.

Ready to Turn It Back On?

Once the machine has cooled for at least an hour and has plenty of open space, plug it back into a direct wall outlet and turn it on. The "CH" code should disappear, and your standard humidity readings will return!

If the CH code pops back up immediately even after a long cool-down period in a cold room, the sensor may need a professional look. Please contact our Live Support Team, mention you’ve completed the "Cool Down & Clearance Reset,"

  1. Log in to our Customer Support Portal.

  2. Submit a support ticket describing the issue.

  3. Attach a short video (at least 1 minute long) showing the error happening. This will help our technical team diagnose and resolve the issue much faster for you.

Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to getting this sorted out!
