Sterra Paws — Cannot Turn OnUpdated 4 hours ago

If your Sterra Paws Pet Air Purifier completely refuses to turn on and the display screen remains entirely dark, please don't worry. This is usually caused by a loose connection or a safety feature engaging rather than a broken machine.

Please follow these step-by-step checks to get your purifier running again:

1. Test the Wall Socket & Bypass Power Strips

Sometimes, a household breaker trips or a multi-plug extension cord fails.

  • Unplug the Sterra Paws from the socket.

  • Plug an alternative working device (like a phone charger or a lamp) into that exact same outlet to confirm it has electricity. If it doesn't work, your home's circuit breaker may have tripped.

  • If the outlet works, plug your Sterra Paws directly into the wall outlet, bypassing all extension cords or surge protectors.

2. Verify the Dual-Ended Adapter Connection

The Sterra Paws features a bite-resistant power cable with a modular plug system. It is very common for the cord to come loose at the base of the unit if the machine is moved or nudged by a pet.

  • Unplug the power adapter from the wall.

  • Inspect the connection point at the bottom or back of the Sterra Paws machine. Push the cylindrical power pin firmly into the device's intake port until it clicks tightly.

  • Plug the adapter back into the wall outlet and press the power button.

3. Check the Filter Safety Switch

The Sterra Paws is equipped with an integrated safety switch that cuts all electrical power to the system if the filter cover is loose. This prevents the fan from spinning while your pet is nearby.

  • Turn the machine upside down and remove the bottom base cover.

  • Re-seat the cylindrical filter so it sits completely flat and flush inside the chamber.

  • Twist the base cover back on tightly until it clicks completely into the "CLOSE" locked position. If this cover is even slightly crooked, the machine will remain completely dark.
