Sterra Paws — 888 Error on ScreenUpdated 5 hours ago

If the digital display on your Sterra Paws Pet Air Purifier is completely frozen and reading 888, it means your machine's internal computer board isn't receiving enough stable electrical power to start up properly.

When the power supply drops below what the machine needs, the screen enters a safe-mode freeze, turning on all the digital lights at once. Fortunately, this is almost always an external power issue rather than a broken purifier!

Please follow these simple electrical checks to restore standard power to your unit:

1. Bypass Extension Strips and Surge Protectors

Multi-plug extension cords, power strips, and surge protectors can degrade or limit the electrical current over time.

  • Turn off the Sterra Paws and unplug it.

  • Move the unit to a different room and plug it directly into a main wall socket.

  • Ensure the wall socket is turned on and check if the screen returns to normal.

2. Check the Power Cable & Adapter Connection

The Sterra Paws relies on a specialized power adapter to convert your home's electricity into the correct voltage for the machine.

  • Ensure the power adapter block is pushed firmly and securely into the wall outlet.

  • Inspect the length of the bite-resistant cable. If there are tight bends, heavy creases, or if a pet has put pressure on the cord, the internal wiring might be bottlenecking the power flow.

  • Try a New Adapter: If you happen to own another compatible Sterra power adapter cord, swap the cords. If the display immediately clears, the original adapter was under-delivering voltage and needs to be replaced.

Still Stuck on 888?

If you have plugged the unit directly into a known working wall outlet and tried an alternative power adapter, but the screen remains frozen on 888, the internal power receiver terminal on the motherboard may have loosened or failed.
