Sterra Nova — Not Detecting Smoke or Polluted AirUpdated 2 hours ago

If your Sterra Nova's air quality indicator remains blue (indicating clean air) even when there is visible smoke, dust, or cooking odors in the room, the sensor may just need a quick reset or clean. Please follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Clear the Sensor Area

  • Locate the sensor intake vents (usually on the side or back of the machine).

  • Ensure there is no dust, lint, or pet hair blocking the small sensor grilles.

  • Wipe the outside of the grilles gently with a clean, dry cloth.

  • Note: Do not insert any sharp objects, cotton swabs, or compressed air into the sensor slits, as this can permanently damage the sensitive calibration.

2. Perform a Power Cycle

  • Turn off the Sterra Nova and completely unplug it from the wall outlet.

  • Wait 30 seconds to let the internal memory reset.

  • Plug it back in and turn it on to see if the sensor recalibrates.

3. Check Machine Placement

  • Make sure the Sterra Nova is placed at least 1 to 2 feet away from walls or furniture.

  • Restricting airflow around the unit can trap a pocket of clean air right next to the sensor, preventing it from detecting pollutants in the rest of the room.

Still Not Shifting Colors?

If the unit remains frozen on "clean" air while pollutants are present, please contact our Support Team.

  1. Log in to our Customer Support Portal.

  2. Submit a support ticket describing the issue.

  3. Attach a short video (at least 1 minute long) showing the error happening. This will help our technical team diagnose and resolve the issue much faster for you.

Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to getting this sorted out!
