Sterra Flow Pro — Dust Leaks from Dust CupUpdated 20 hours ago

Fix: Dust Leaks from the Dust Cup (Sterra Flow Pro)

If you notice fine dust particles or debris leaking out from the edges of your Sterra Flow Pro dust cup during a cleaning session, please be completely reassured. This does not mean your vacuum’s casing is cracked, or that your filtration system is failing!

This symptom is caused by a simple Sealing Interface Disalignment. The Sterra Flow Pro is engineered with an airtight, high-efficiency suction chamber to ensure 100% of captured dust remains safely trapped inside. However, if the multi-layered HEPA filter is sitting slightly skewed, if the dust cup housing is twisted off its tracks, or if the bottom release lid isn't locked completely flush, the airtight vacuum seal is broken. The high-velocity exhaust air will naturally find this microscopic gap and push fine dust outward.

You can easily re-align your seals and completely stop any escaping debris by completing this quick re-sealing sequence:

The Airtight Filtration Re-Sealing Sequence

Please turn off the power and remove the battery pack before performing these steps:

1.Reset and Lock the HEPA Filter in Position

Twist and lift the HEPA filter out of the top of the dust cup assembly. Inspect the rubber gasket lining the edge of the filter for any trapped lint or hair that might break the seal.

Re-insert the HEPA filter, pressing down firmly all around the edges to ensure it sits perfectly level, and twist it firmly into its designated locking slot until it is completely flush.

2.Align and Track the Modular Dust Cup Housing

Release the entire dust cup from the main handheld vacuum body. Empty out any loose debris, and check the upper and lower tracking lips where the cup connects to the motor housing.

Re-assemble the dust cup onto the main unit by carefully aligning the mounting tracks first, then swinging it forward until the main release latch snaps shut with a crisp, audible "click".

3.Lock the Dust Cup Lid Flush and Level

Inspect the bottom trapdoor lid of the dust cup. Before snapping it shut, ensure no hair or larger debris is draped over the black rubber sealing ring.

Push the bottom cover or lid perfectly level and straight up until the locking clip secures itself tightly. Running your thumb over the seam ensures there are no uneven gaps, instantly restoring your vacuum's airtight, leak-free suction performance.

What to Do If Dust Continues to Escape the Seals

For 95% of users, systematically resetting the HEPA filter position, tracking the dust cup correctly, and snapping the lid shut level will completely re-establish the airtight seal and eliminate any dust leakage.

However, if you have meticulously checked and reassembled all three sealing points, verified that the rubber gaskets are completely clear, but dust stubbornly continues to puff or leak out during use, one of your rubber sealing gaskets may have sustained a structural tear, or a mounting clip may be warped.

1.Record a Continuous Verification Video

Place a small amount of household dust or debris on the floor. Record a continuous video of at least 1 minute capturing your vacuum assembly and testing.

Start the video by showing that your dust cup lid and HEPA filter are closed, then turn the vacuum on and vacuum up the debris, letting the camera capture the exact spot where the dust is escaping from the seams for the remainder of the minute.

2.Submit Your Direct Support Request

Log into your account portal, attach your 1-minute video, and copy-and-paste the following message directly to our live agents:

  1. Log in to our Customer Support Portal.

  2. Submit a support ticket describing the issue.

  3. Attach a short video (at least 1 minute long) showing the error happening. This will help our technical team diagnose and resolve the issue much faster for you.

📌 Support Message Template: "Dust is leaking out of the dust cup seams on my Sterra Flow Pro. I have followed the Help Center guide to adjust the HEPA filter to its correct locked position, completely reassembled the dust cup housing on its tracks, and verified the lid cover is locked perfectly flush, but the dust leakage persists during use. I have attached the required 1-minute troubleshooting video demonstrating the leak for immediate review by a live agent."
