Sterra Flow Pro — Dust Indicator Turns Red During Normal UseUpdated 20 hours ago
If your Sterra Flow Pro smart dust indicator ring stubbornly turns or stays solid red while you are vacuuming clean floors, please be completely reassured. This does not mean your vacuum’s digital brain, smart software, or infrared dust sensors are broken!
This symptom is typically caused by a temporary Sensor Tunnel Obstruction. Your Sterra Flow Pro is engineered with a high-performance infrared sensor array that reads the volume of dust particles flying through the internal intake channel in real time. If a dense layer of micro-dust sticks to the sensor window, or if a physical obstruction gets wedged inside the dust cup or around the HEPA filter, it severely restricts airflow and continuously blocks the sensor’s optical line of sight. The vacuum interprets this static debris accumulation as a massive, non-stop pile of dirt passing through, keeping the indicator ring locked in the red zone.
You can easily isolate the root cause, clear the airway tunnel, and reset your smart sensor ring back to its crisp, clean blue baseline by completing this quick diagnostic sequence:
The Airway Clearing & Sensor Reset Sequence
Please turn off the power and remove the battery pack before performing these checks:
1.Isolate the Unit with the Dust Cup Test
Press the quick-release latch to remove the Sterra Flow Pro dust cup completely from the main body.
Reinsert the battery pack and turn the vacuum power on with the dust cup still removed. If the indicator ring instantly switches back away from red, this confirms your smart sensors are perfectly healthy, and the issue is a physical clog or dust accumulation sitting strictly inside the dust cup or filtration assembly.
2.Clean the Air Inlet, Dust Cup, and HEPA Filter
If the indicator continues to show red, a thorough cleaning of your primary airway defenses is required. Empty all loose dirt from the dust cup, and wash the internal cyclone mesh under cold water. Next, remove the HEPA filter and gently tap it over a trash bin to dislodge trapped fine dust (do not use a wet filter!).
Finally, look down into the main air inlet neck where the handheld unit connects to the extension rod, and wipe away any static film of fine dust or trapped hair clusters blocking the internal channel walls.
3.Reassemble and Test the Smart Sensor Path
Allow any washed components to air-dry completely, then snap the clean HEPA filter and dust cup firmly back into place.
Turn the vacuum on and run it in an open area. With the physical airway restrictions cleared and the optical sensor tunnel free of static dust buildup, your smart display ring will immediately recalibrate and return to normal operation.
What to Do If the Indicator Ring Remains Stubbornly Red
For 95% of users, simply detaching the dust cup to check the system and clearing out fine dust from the air inlet and HEPA filter will instantly clear a false alarm red light.
However, if you have meticulously cleaned every single section of the airflow path, verified the HEPA filter is spotless, but the smart ring stubbornly locks into red the moment it turns on, the internal infrared particle sensor module may have sustained a technical calibration fault or a hardware malfunction.

1.Record a Continuous Verification Video
Turn your Sterra Flow Pro on in an open space. Record a continuous video of at least 1 minute capturing the display screen and indicator ring.
Let the video capture the indicator ring staying locked in red for the full minute while vacuuming an obviously clean area, demonstrating to our team that the indicator false alarm remains permanently stuck.

📌 Support Message Template: "The dust indicator ring on my Sterra Flow Pro remains permanently turned to red during normal use. I have followed the Help Center guide to isolate the dust cup, thoroughly clean the internal air inlet, and clear the HEPA filter of all fine dust, but the false alarm red indicator persists. I have attached the required 1-minute troubleshooting video showing the stuck indicator ring for immediate review by a live agent."
