Sterra Flow Pro — Automatic Mode Immediately Reaches Highest Gear When Powered OnUpdated 20 hours ago

If your Sterra Flow Pro is set to Automatic Mode and it immediately surges to its highest, loudest suction gear the exact second you turn it on—even when you are just vacuuming a relatively clean floor—please be completely reassured. This does not mean your vacuum’s smart brain, motherboard, or digital sensor system is broken!

This symptom is caused by a temporary Sensor Intake Blindspot. Your Sterra Flow Pro is engineered with an intelligent, highly sensitive infrared dust sensor located inside the main intake neck. This sensor reads the volume of debris passing through the airflow channel in real time, automatically ramping the motor speed up or down to save battery. If a dense layer of micro-dust, a clump of pet fur, or a small piece of debris gets wedged directly inside the intake mouth, it physically blocks the sensor's optical lens. The vacuum misinterprets this stationary obstruction as a massive, never-ending pile of dirt passing through, forcing the motor to run at maximum gear to try and clear it.

You can easily clear this optical blindspot and restore smooth, automated power shifting by completing this quick cleaning check:

The Smart Sensor Airway Clearing Sequence

Please turn off the vacuum power and remove the battery pack before performing these steps:

1.Expose and Clean the Infrared Sensor Lens

Press the quick-release button to detach the long extension aluminum rod from the main handheld motor unit.

Look directly inside the physical suction intake throat of the handheld piece. Wipe down the interior walls using a dry microfiber cloth, or gently use a soft cotton swab to wipe away any film of static fine dust or trapped lint blocking the small, embedded glass sensor lens window.

2.Check the Main Air Inlet for Hidden Wedged Debris

Look past the sensor window directly into the entry point where the debris drops into the dust canister.

Ensure there are no plastic wrappers, coins, or dense hairballs wedged sideways in the throat. If you spot a stubborn clog, open the dust cup door and pull the obstruction out through the bottom to completely free up the sensor's field of vision.

3.Reassemble and Test the Automatic System Calibration

Click the extension rod back into the clean handheld unit. Slide the battery pack in and turn the vacuum on, ensuring it is switched to Automatic Mode.

With the physical obstruction cleared away from the sensor's lens, the vacuum's internal brain will properly read an empty airway, dropping the motor back down to its quiet, efficient baseline gear instantly.

What to Do If the Automatic Mode Continues to Spike

For 95% of users, simply wiping down the internal intake throat and clearing the micro-dust film off the sensor lens completely restores the smart automatic calibration.

However, if you have meticulously cleaned the inner suction neck, verified that the air inlet is 100% spotless, but the vacuum stubbornly continues to blast at maximum power the moment it is turned on, the internal infrared sensor module may have suffered a calibration or hardware fault.

Please log into our Customer Support portal to send a direct assistance message to our technical team so we can arrange a quick solution.

1.Record a Continuous Verification Video

Turn your Sterra Flow Pro on in an open space. Record a continuous video of at least 1 minute showing the display screen screen locked in Automatic Mode and the motor running at maximum gear without dropping down, despite the floor being clear.

2.Submit Your Direct Support Request

Log into your account portal and paste the following message to our live agents:

  1. Log in to our Customer Support Portal.

  2. Submit a support ticket describing the issue.

  3. Attach a short video (at least 1 minute long) showing the error happening. This will help our technical team diagnose and resolve the issue much faster for you.

📌 Support Message Template: "The Automatic Mode on my Sterra Flow Pro is immediately spiking to the highest gear upon power-on. I have followed the Help Center guide to thoroughly clean the internal intake throat, clear the air inlet, and wipe down the sensor lens, but the automatic gear system remains locked at maximum speed. I have attached the required 1-minute troubleshooting video showing the behavior."
