Sterra 8 - Humming Sound / Loud NoiseUpdated 3 hours ago

It is completely normal for the machine to emit sound during standard operation. However, we understand that some environments are quieter than others, and the noise level may occasionally feel higher than what is comfortable for you.

Here is what causes the sound and how we can help resolve it.

Why is my machine making noise?

The sound you hear is primarily produced by the internal cooling fan.

  • The Cause: The fan is designed to dissipate heat and keep the internal components safe and functional during operation.

  • Is it normal? Yes, this is a completely standard operational sound and indicates that the machine's cooling system is working properly.

Troubleshooting & Resolution

If the fan noise is too disruptive or uncomfortable for your environment, we can adjust the machine's cooling parameters to quiet it down.

What we can do:

We can dispatch a technician to perform a firmware update using specialized tools

How this fixes the noise:

  • The update adjusts the internal Peltier cooling sensor’s target temperature from 2°C to 8°C.

  • By slightly raising this target temperature, the machine’s workload is significantly reduced.

  • Because the cooling system no longer needs to work as hard to maintain an ultra-low temperature, it generates much less heat.

  • Less heat means the fan can run at a lower, significantly quieter speed.

Request a Technician Visit

If you would like to proceed with this firmware adjustment to reduce the fan noise, please contact our support team and we will get a technical visit scheduled for you.

  1. Log in to our Customer Support Portal.

  2. Submit a support ticket describing the issue.

  3. Attach a short video (at least 1 minute long) capturing the sound. This will help our technical team diagnose and resolve the issue much faster for you.
