Sterra 8 — E05 to E09 Solenoid Valve ErrorUpdated 35 minutes ago
If your Sterra 8 control panel is flashing any error code from E05 to E09 and sounding three short "ding" chime alerts, your machine's internal computer has detected a temporary alignment issue with one of its electronic water gates (known technically as a solenoid valve).
These internal valves use quick electronic pulses to open and close when you choose your water temperature. If there is a minor power fluctuation or a valve gets slightly out of sync, the system pauses as a safety measure.
Note for E09 only: If your panel displays E09, the hot water function will also be temporarily locked down until the system is reset.
Resolving these codes and clearing the alert takes just a single button press.
How to Clear the Error Code
In almost all cases, the internal water gate simply needs a fresh digital signal to reset itself back into the correct position.
Look at the flashing error code on your main touch panel.
Tap the Dispense button firmly once.
What to look for: Pressing this button commands the internal computer to cycle and realign the valves. You may hear a faint click inside the unit. The error code display will instantly disappear, the chimes will stop, and your machine will resume normal operation.
When to Call Support
Tapping the dispense button resolves this electronic glitch instantly for the vast majority of users. However, if you press the button and the E05–E09 error code immediately reappears, or if the machine continues to chime, the internal valve may be experiencing a physical blockage or a deeper electrical fault.
