Sterra 7 — Machine is Hot or OverheatingUpdated 2 hours ago

If your Sterra 7 stops dispensing hot or cold water correctly, or if the touch panel indicates an overheating error, the cause is almost always insufficient ventilation.

When the machine cannot breathe, heat builds up rapidly inside the chassis. To protect its delicate heating elements and cooling compressor from permanent damage, the system will automatically lock down its water temperature functions.

Follow this 3-step guide to clear out trapped heat, clean your airflow vents, and reset your system.

Step 1: Power Down & Let It Cool (2 Hours)

To reset the internal safety sensors, the machine must be completely powered down so the internal tanks can return to room temperature.

  1. Unplug the machine: Flip the main power switch at the back/side of your Sterra 7 to the OFF position, then completely unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  2. Create breathing room: Ensure there is a minimum of 15–20 cm of open clearance on all sides of the unit. Do not crowd the machine with counter appliances, decorations, or push it completely flush against a wall.

  3. Check for heat sources: Verify that your Sterra 7 is not sitting directly next to other heat-producing kitchen appliances (like kettles, toaster ovens, microwaves, or refrigerator exhaust vents).

⏱️ Important: Leave the machine completely unplugged for 2 full hours. The system will not allow a reset until it has cooled down entirely.

Step 2: Clean the Rear Dust Filter

While you wait for the machine to cool, take a moment to wash the dust filter. A clogged filter blocks air intake, which is the number one cause of overheating.

  1. Locate the mesh dust filter slide on the back of your Sterra 7 and gently pull it out.

  2. Rinse the filter thoroughly under cool, running tap water to wash away any trapped lint, dust, or pet hair.

  3. Let the filter dry completely before sliding it back into the unit.

⚠️ Important: Never reinstall a damp or wet filter, as moisture can damage the internal electronics.

Step 3: Restart & Run the Auto-Flush (15 Minutes)

Once 2 hours have passed, and your rear filter is completely dry, you are ready to reboot the software.

  1. Reinsert the dry dust filter into the back of the machine.

  2. Plug the power cord directly back into the wall socket and turn the main power switch ON.

  3. Do not press any buttons. The Sterra 7 will automatically enter an initialization phase and begin an internal system flush.

  4. The main dispense button will pulse slowly in a "breathing" light pattern.

  5. Wait roughly 15 minutes without interrupting the cycle. Once all the flashing panel lights turn completely off, the flush is finished, and your hot and cold water functions will be fully restored.

Still Having Issues?

If your water temperature functions are still malfunctioning or the machine continues to overheat after completing this 2-hour reset process, the internal cooling fan or thermal sensor may need to be replaced.
