Sterra 7 — Hot and Cold Temperature Not Consistent with User ManualUpdated 3 hours ago
Your Sterra 7 is designed to dispense water at precise temperature presets, including comforting hot options (50°C, 70°C, 80°C) and crisp, chilled options (5°C, 15°C).
If you notice that your water feels slightly hotter or cooler than usual, depending on the time of day or season, please be reassured: this is completely normal and is not a functional defect. No repairs or replacements are needed.
Here is a quick look at why this happens and how your machine manages its temperatures.
The Core Reason: Incoming Raw Water Temperature
The Sterra 7 takes in source tap water from your home’s plumbing system and instantly adjusts it to your desired temperature. Because of this, the temperature of your incoming raw tap water heavily influences the final cup:
During Hotter Months / Mid-Day: Your home's tap water sits inside plumbing pipes that absorb heat from the surrounding environment. If the incoming raw water is warmer than usual, the cooling system has to work a bit harder to pull the temperature down to 5°C, which can cause minor variations during back-to-back dispensing.
During Cooler Months / Early Mornings: The tap water entering the machine is naturally colder. When you select a high-heat option like 80°C, the heating element has to bridge a wider temperature gap in seconds, which can lead to slight, unnoticeable variations.
Helpful Tips for the Perfect Cup
If you want to ensure your water is as close to your chosen preset as possible, keep these quick tips in mind:
The First Pour: If the machine hasn't been used for a few hours, the small amount of water sitting in the internal tubes right before the nozzle will naturally adjust to room temperature. Dispensing a tiny splash of water first can clear this line and ensure your actual glass is perfectly chilled or hot.
Back-to-Back Dispensing: If you are hosting guests and dispensing multiple liters of cold or hot water continuously, give the Sterra 7 a brief 1–2 minute rest between large pitchers. This gives the internal heating and cooling tanks a moment to replenish and recalibrate back to their exact presets.
Still Concerned Your Temperature is Way Off?
While minor fluctuations of a few degrees are entirely standard across all premium water dispensers, if your hot water is coming out completely room temperature, or your cold water is lukewarm even after a rest, your internal heating/cooling elements may need an inspection.
