Sterra 7 — Filter Lights Blinking After Filter Replacement or Rainbow Light on Dispense ButtonUpdated 32 minutes ago

If you have just replaced your Sterra 7 water filter but the touch panel is still showing a yellow, orange, or red indicator light, the internal software may have missed the reset command.

Follow this quick troubleshooting sequence to force the system to recognize your fresh filter.

Step 1: Verify the Filter Placement

Before trying any software resets, let's make sure the filter bottle itself is communicating properly with the machine's internal sensors.

  1. Open the filter compartment door.

  2. Check the filter bottle and ensure it is completely seated and firmly locked into its designated slot. If it is even slightly loose or misaligned, the touch panel will refuse to reset.

Step 2: Clear the Sensor with a Manual Flush

If the filter is perfectly locked in but the light remains, we need to trigger a manual flush to prime the new filter and wake up the flow sensors.

  1. Press and hold the Self-Care and Ambient buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds.

  2. The machine will begin a manual flushing cycle. Do not touch any buttons or attempt to dispense water during this time.

  3. Wait approximately 15 minutes until all the flashing panel lights turn off completely, signaling that the flush is finished.

Step 3: Try the Standard Reset Button Combination

Now that the system has flushed, try the standard touch-panel reset shortcut:

  • Press and hold the Dispense and Ambient buttons together for 3 seconds.

  • Check if the indicator light changes back to a healthy Green.

Step 4: The Flashing Light Override (Backup Method)

If the standard button combination in Step 3 didn't work, your software version may require a direct override:

  • Press and hold the Self-Care button down continuously until the blinking indicator light stops flashing and resets.

Still Not Resetting?

If you have tried both button shortcuts and verified the filter is locked in, your Sterra 7's control board may need a quick software re-programming.
