Sterra Y — Water Leakage from Filter HeadUpdated a day ago

A leak inside the side filter compartment usually means that fine water particles or mineral build-up are preventing your filters from locking perfectly airtight against the machine's filter head.

Follow this quick troubleshooting checklist to depressurize your system, clean the seals, and stop the leak.

Filter Compartment Inspection & Reseat Sequence

1.1. Isolate the power and water lines: Stops high-pressure spraying while servicing.

Turn off the master power switch on the back of your Sterra Y and unplug the unit from the wall. Next, locate the small blue inlet valve on the water line behind the machine (or the main metal lever under your kitchen sink) and turn it to the closed position to cut off incoming water pressure.

2.2. Check your filter lifecycle age: Identify expired, clogged filter media.

Think back to your last filter replacement. Have your filters been inside the machine for more than 6 months?

As filters age, they get heavily loaded with microscopic debris. This build-up causes water pressure to back up severely, which can force water right past the upper rubber seals. If your filters are overdue, a fresh set will resolve the backpressure and stop the leak.

3.3. Clean and reseat the filter locks: Clears out trapped sediment blocks.

If your filters are less than 6 months old, a tiny piece of dirt or mineral grain is likely breaking the seal.

Firmly grip each filter, twist to the left, and pull it down to remove it. Use a clean, damp cloth or paper towel to wipe down the rubber O-rings on top of the filter and the plastic ports inside the overhead filter head manifold. Reinsert each filter and twist firmly to the right until it locks completely in place.

What if the filter head is still dripping?

If you have cleaned and reseated your filters, your replacement history is up to date, but water continues to drip from the overhead manifold when you turn the water back on, the internal plastic housing or an O-ring inside the filter head may be fractured.
