Sterra Y — Room Temperature Water is Warm or HotUpdated a day ago
If the ambient or "room temperature" water option on your Sterra Y is dispensing warm or hot water, your machine is likely experiencing thermal bleed from the heating tank or drawing from a warm incoming water line.
Before requesting an engineering check, follow this rapid 3-step diagnostic sequence to check your settings and installation connections.
The Ambient Water Temperature Checklist
1.1. Verify the cold water switch is turned ON: Activates the internal thermal barrier.
Reach around to the back panel of your Sterra Y and confirm that the green cooling switch is flipped to the ON ( I ) position.
Why this matters: The internal hot and cold water tanks sit right next to each other. If the cold water system is switched off, the heat from the hot tank will naturally bleed into the room temperature pathways, making your ambient water feel warm. Keeping the cooling switch ON prevents this thermal transfer.
2.2. Confirm your kitchen plumbing source: Checks for a cross-connected water feed.
If you live in a condominium or a new apartment with separate hot and cold under-sink water taps, trace the plastic tube from your Sterra Y to the pipe valve beneath your counter.
Ensure your purifier is hooked up to the cold water outlet (typically located on the right-hand side). If the tube is connected to the hot water tap (typically on the left), the machine will constantly draw pre-heated water.
3.3. Ensure supply valves are completely open: Restores optimal internal line pressure.
Check that both your home's main under-sink water valve and the small blue adapter valve on the purifier line are turned fully open. Low water pressure or restricted water flow causes water to sit stagnant inside the internal lines for too long, allowing it to absorb heat from the nearby warming elements.
What if my settings are correct but the water is still hot?
If your green cooling switch has been ON for a few hours, your valves are wide open, and the ambient line is hooked to the cold water tap but still dispenses hot water, the internal thermal insulation or cooling thermostat may have failed.
