Sterra Y — LED Light Not Lighting Up on Front PanelUpdated a day ago

If the LED display lights on the front panel of your Sterra Y have suddenly gone dark, the internal control screen may simply need a clean electrical reset.

A sudden power surge or static buildup can sometimes lock up the display's micro-computer, causing the lights to freeze in an "off" state. By checking the primary power switches and running a deep system reset, you can easily determine if the screen is experiencing a temporary glitch or requires a quick part replacement.

Follow these 4 steps in order to safely reset and diagnose your display panel:

The Front Panel Electrical Reset Sequence

1.1. Check the rear master toggle switches: Verifies the primary circuit connection.

Reach around to the back of your Sterra Y. Locate the main power switch, as well as the independent red (heating) and green (cooling) toggles. Ensure every single switch is turned completely to the ON ( I ) position.

2.2. Execute a deep system power cycle: Drains stored static electricity.

Turn off all the rear switches and unplug the power cord cleanly from the wall outlet. Leave the machine completely unplugged for at least 2 hours. This allows the internal capacitors to fully drain their stored electricity, forcing the computer chip to perform a true, clean reboot.

3.3. Test the water temperature dispensing: Checks core machine mechanics.

Plug the machine back into the wall and flip the rear switches back ON. Place a cup underneath and tap the dispense buttons for hot, cold, and ambient water.

  • Are the temperatures working perfectly? If the water is hot and cold but the panel remains dark, your display screen's LED circuit has failed, but the machine is functionally healthy.

  • Is the water only room temperature? If the lights are dark AND the water isn't heating or cooling, the unit is not receiving power at all.

What should you do if the lights stay dark?

If you have completed the 2-hour power cycle and verified that all rear switches are on, but the front display remains completely black, the LED ribbon cable inside has detached, or the display board has failed.
