Sterra Y — Fine Particles or Air Bubbles in Dispensed WaterUpdated a day ago
If your newly dispensed water looks cloudy, milky, or contains tiny white specks, don't worry—this is a very common occurrence in high-pressure water purifiers and is usually completely harmless.
Before changing any parts, perform this Quick 60-Second Glass Test to find out exactly what is causing the cloudiness:
🥛 The 60-Second Glass Test: Fill a clean, clear glass with water and set it on your counter. Watch it closely for one minute.
If the cloudiness clears from the bottom up: It is just harmless micro-bubbles of trapped oxygen escaping the water line. The water is perfectly safe to drink!
If the particles do not disappear and settle at the bottom: It is fine sediment or carbon dust, indicating your internal filters are saturated or need inspection.
Follow these 2 steps to clear your lines and verify your system's health:
Step 1: Ensure Your Supply Valves Are Fully Open
If your water valves are only partially turned on, they can throttle the incoming water stream, pulling excess air into the plumbing lines and creating heavy micro-bubbles:
Check your home water valve: Ensure your under-sink valve is fully turned on.
Check the blue valve on the machine: Locate the small blue shut-off valve along the plastic tube behind your Sterra Y. Ensure the blue lever is turned completely parallel to the tube line (fully open).
Step 2: Check Your Filter Replacement Timeline
If the cloudiness does not clear and leaves visible, fine particles settling in your glass, your internal filters are likely worn out.
When were your filters last replaced? Sterra Y filters must be changed every 6 months.
Over time, old filters lose their structural integrity and can begin shedding fine carbon dust particles or letting trapped sediments pass directly into your drinking water. Replacing them will instantly restore absolute water clarity.

If your filters are brand new (less than 2 weeks old) and the micro-bubbles are still very heavy, simply dispense 3 to 5 liters of water continuously to completely flush out the remaining air pockets.
Are your filters less than 6 months old?
