Sterra Y — Dispensed Water is Splitting or Spray-LikeUpdated a day ago

If the water stream from your Sterra Y has started splitting into two paths, spraying sideways, or splashing against your cup, the dispensing nozzle tip simply needs a quick, non-destructive cleaning.

Because water naturally contains healthy minerals, tiny microscopic drops left on the nozzle tip will dry out between uses, leaving behind hard calcium scale deposits. These jagged mineral deposits disrupt the smooth flow of water, causing it to spray. Following these simple maintenance steps will quickly clear the blockage and restore a clean, vertical stream:

The Nozzle Descaling & Cleaning Sequence

1.1. De-activate the touch panel display: Prevents accidental dispensing.

Before cleaning near the nozzle, tap the child lock button or turn the display panel screen off. This ensures you can work directly around the dispensing tip without triggering an accidental pour.

2.2. Dislodge deposits with a small, soft brush: Clears hard mineral scale.

Take a clean, small brush (such as a soft-bristled toothbrush, a clean mascara wand, or an interdental brush). Insert the bristles gently into the opening of the dispensing nozzle and scrub the inside walls in a circular motion. This breaks loose the hard crust of mineral scale clinging to the exit port.

3.3. Apply a temporary warm vinegar soak (Optional): Softens stubborn buildup.

If the scale is too hard to brush away, soak a clean cotton ball or cloth in warm white vinegar or lemon juice. Hold it firmly against the nozzle opening for 2 to 3 minutes. The mild natural acid will dissolve the calcium blockages without scratching the internal parts.

4.4. Flush out the loose sediment particles: Cleanses the internal pathway.

Turn your display back on, place a large bowl underneath, and dispense a steady stream of water for 5 to 10 seconds. This flushes out the loose mineral flakes you just scrubbed free. Your water stream should now flow in a clean, perfectly straight column.

What if the water continues to spray after cleaning?

If you have thoroughly scrubbed the inside of the nozzle tip and applied a vinegar soak, but the water continues to shoot out at an un-controlled angle, the internal plastic aerator core has cracked, or the nozzle housing has warped out of shape.
