Sterra Y — Cannot Dispense Hot WaterUpdated a day ago

If your Sterra Y is only dispensing room-temperature or lukewarm water when you press the hot water button, the heating loop needs a quick diagnostic check.

Follow these 3 simple steps to check your settings, account for high-volume usage, and test if your heating element is working:

The Hot Water Diagnostic & Recovery Sequence

1.1. Confirm the red heating switch is turned ON: Verifies heating rail power.

Look at the back panel of your Sterra Y. Locate the dedicated red switch (which controls the hot water tank). Ensure it is firmly flipped to the ON ( I ) position. If it was accidentally switched off, toggle it on and wait 15 to 20 minutes for the water to heat up.

2.2. Check if you recently drew more than 1.8 Liters: Accounts for reservoir recovery lag.

Did you or someone in your home recently dispense a large amount of hot water in a single session (such as filling up a large cooking pot, multiple thermoses, or successive large mugs)?

  • The internal hot water tank has a capacity of 1.8 Liters. If you draw more than 1.8L at once, the hot reservoir completely empties and refills with cold incoming tap water.

  • The Fix: Simply wait 20 full minutes without dispensing any hot water. This gives the internal heating element enough time to bring the fresh tank of water back up to boiling temperature.

3.3. Run a test dispense cycle after 20 minutes: Isolates the internal heating state.

After letting the machine rest for 20 minutes with the red switch turned ON, try dispensing a small cup of hot water.

  • If the water flows normally but is still completely cold or room-temperature, your machine's internal heating element has burned out, or its high-temperature safety thermostat has permanently tripped. Move to the support step below.

Still not getting hot water after a 20-minute wait?

If you have confirmed that the red rear switch is ON, waited 20 minutes without drawing water, and the output remains completely cold, your Sterra Y has suffered an internal heating module fault.

  1. Log in to our Customer Support Portal.

  2. Submit a support ticket describing the issue.

  3. Attach a short video (at least 1 minute long) showing the error happening. This will help our technical team diagnose and resolve the issue much faster for you.
