Sterra X — Slow Water FlowUpdated 2 days ago
If the water stream from your Sterra X has become a weak trickle or is taking much longer than usual to fill your glass, the system is experiencing a water pressure restriction. This is usually caused by a partially closed supply valve or an internal filter that is completely clogged with trapped sediment.
Follow these 2 simple steps to check your water lines and restore a fast, smooth flow:
Step 1: Verify Your Water Supply Valves
Before checking the internal parts of the machine, make sure water is flowing freely into the unit:
Check your main home water valve: Ensure your under-sink or main supply valve is turned completely to the open position and your home has normal overall water pressure.
Check the blue valve on the machine: Locate the small blue shut-off valve along the plastic water tube at the back or underside of your Sterra X. Make sure the blue lever is turned completely parallel to the tube line (fully open). If it is turned at an angle, it acts as a bottleneck, restricting your water flow.
Step 2: Check Your Filter Replacement Timeline
If both valves are wide open but the stream is still slow, your internal filter cartridges are likely clogged.
How many months has it been since your last filter change? Sterra X filter cartridges must be replaced every 6 months to maintain proper hygiene and water flow.
If your filters are more than 6 months old, they have done their job and are now completely full of trapped sediment. This buildup chokes the water pathway, resulting in a slow trickle.
Still flowing slowly after checking your valves?
If your filter is over 6 months old: Your filters are saturated and need to be replaced to restore normal water pressure. Reach out to our Customer Support for assistance.
If your filter is less than 6 months old: There may be an internal line kink or a blocked tank inlet. Reach out to our Customer Support for assistance.
