Sterra X — Cannot Dispense Cold WaterUpdated 2 days ago

When your Sterra X water dispenser stops dispensing cold water, the machine is struggling to drop its core temperature down to its target cooling parameters.

This symptom is usually caused by an unengaged rear power circuit, a temporary compressor logic stall, or a lack of ventilation clearance creating a heat-trap around the internal cooling fins. Powering down the system completely allows the cooling line pressures to equalize and resets the thermostat sensors. If the system continues to dispense room-temperature water after a full reset cycle, it confirms a structural component breakdown—most commonly a failed temperature regulator switch or a compressor motor malfunction.

Here is how to optimize this diagnostic roadmap for your help center article and Gorgias AI workflow.

This version translates technical cooling cycles into clear, easy-to-follow steps, allowing the customer to check the manual switches and ventilation spacing before requesting a technician swap.

How to Fix the Cold Water Function on Your Sterra X

If your Sterra X is no longer dispensing crisp, cold water, the internal cooling engine (the compressor) may have paused to protect itself from overheating, or a rear toggle switch might have been accidentally flipped off during cleaning.

Follow these 4 simple steps to check your settings and reset your cooling system:

The Cold Water Calibration & Reset Protocol

1.1. Check the rear cooling switch: Verify baseline settings.

Locate the black rocker switch on the back panel of your Sterra X. Ensure it is switched completely to the ON ( I ) position. If this switch was accidentally toggled off, the cooling engine will not activate.

2.2. Inspect ventilation clearances: Prevents thermal trapping.

Take a look around your machine. Your Sterra X requires a minimum of 10cm to 15cm of open space on all sides (especially the back). If it is pushed flush against a wall or cabinet, heat gets trapped inside, preventing the system from chilling your water. Move it forward to restore airflow.

3.3. Execute a 2-hour electrical drawdown: Drains system memory.

Turn the power switch OFF and completely unplug the Sterra X from the wall socket. Leave the machine entirely disconnected and resting for at least 2 full hours. This allows internal gas pressures to drop back to baseline and cools the motor down completely.

4.4. Re-power and monitor the chill: Verify refrigeration.

Plug the machine directly back into a main wall socket and turn it on. Wait 45 to 60 minutes to give the compressor enough time to cycle through a full cooling run. Dispense a glass to check if the water temperature has dropped.

Still dispensing warm or room-temperature water?

If you have verified that the rear switch is on, there is plenty of wall clearance, and the unit has completed its 2-hour rest, but the water remains un-chilled, your Sterra X has a faulty cooling thermostat or a broken compressor motor.
