Sterra Beam — Voice Prompt Please Clean Air Path and Filter with Flashing IconUpdated 13 hours ago
If your Sterra Beam plays the voice announcement "Please clean air path and filter" while flashing a warning icon on the display screen, your device’s Intelligent Airflow Sensors have been triggered.
This alert means the machine has detected a significant drop in internal suction pressure. Just like a standard vacuum, if air cannot flow freely from the floor brush up into the exhaust, the motor has to work twice as hard, which can cause overheating. To protect the motor's lifespan, the machine alerts you exactly where the congestion is happening.
Clearing the air path is a standard maintenance task that takes less than five minutes.
How to Clear the Airway Clog
Because the air path runs through the entire length of the machine, a blockage can hide in a few specific areas. Please walk through this quick step-by-step cleaning sequence:
Power Off the Device:.
Press the power button to turn your Sterra Beam completely OFF. Never attempt to remove filtration parts or stick cleaning tools into the air paths while the motor is active.
Wash and Inspect the HEPA Filter:
Remove the Dirty Water Tank and pull out the HEPA filter located at the top of the tank assembly. Inspect the filter mesh. If it is heavily caked with fine dust, hair, or gray grime, air cannot pass through. Rinse the filter thoroughly under lukewarm running water and tap away excess dirt.
⚠️ Crucial Note: You must let the filter air-dry completely for 24 hours before putting it back in. Operating the vacuum with a wet or damp filter will permanently choke airflow and trigger the voice prompt again immediately.
Clean the Tank Float Sensor Mesh:
While the filter is out, look at the underside of the filter housing lid. Ensure the small plastic mesh cage and safety float switch are free from wet dust clumps or pet fur buildup. Wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
Check the Vacuum Neck Connection:
Remove the Dirty Water Tank completely and look down into the lower intake hole (the pipe leading down toward the floor head). Often, a clump of thick wet hair, a small coin, or heavy debris will lodge right at this bend. Use a long cleaning brush or a dull tool to gently verify that this pipe is entirely clear all the way down to the brush head.
What to Do If the Alert Continues
Once you have thoroughly cleared the vacuum neck, washed the filter, and reassembled the machine (using a completely dry filter spare), turn the Sterra Beam back on.
For nearly all users, clearing these areas immediately restores full suction and silences the voice alert. However, if the voice prompt continues to repeat on loop even though the path is spotlessly empty, an internal air pressure sensor may have malfunctioned.
