Sterra Beam — Shuts Down or Won't Turn OnUpdated 13 hours ago
If your Sterra Beam suddenly powers off while you are cleaning, or if it refuses to turn on when you press the power button, please try not to worry. This is rarely caused by a permanent mechanical failure. Instead, it is almost always an automated Smart Safety Shutdown triggered by one of three common environmental variables: a low battery, an internal heat buildup from extended use, or an overloaded brush roller.
Troubleshooting & Reset Sequence
Please walk through these steps in order to diagnose the cause and safely reboot your machine.
Listen for the Voice Diagnostic Alert:
The Sterra Beam is equipped with intelligent voice feedback. If it shuts down unexpectedly, listen carefully to the audio message emitted by the speaker. It will usually announce the exact reason for the shutdown (e.g., "Low Battery, please charge," or "Please check the floor brush"). If you missed the message, press the power button once and listen for the audio cue.
Verify Battery & Charger Supply:
If the screen remains completely black and silent, the battery may be completely depleted. Place the device onto its charging dock. To rule out a faulty wall connection, plug the charging dock directly into a known-working wall outlet (avoid overloaded extension strips). Check if the battery charging icon lights up on the display panel.
Allow the Core to Cool Down:
If the battery is full but the machine shut down after a long cleaning session, the high-temperature protection shield may have activated. Leave the device completely off and un-docked in a cool, well-ventilated room for 30 minutes. This allows the internal motor housing and battery cells to drop back to a safe operating temperature.
Inspect for a Mechanical Overload:
If the device turns on but shuts down the second you begin vacuuming, the brush motor is getting overloaded. Flip the vacuum head over, remove the brush cover, and inspect the roller for tightly wound hair, carpet threads, or trapped debris. Clear any obstructions so the brush roll can rotate smoothly by hand.
When to Contact Support
For the vast majority of users, charging the battery, letting the unit cool down, or clearing a hair clog from the brush bar entirely resolves the shutdown loop.
However, if you have verified the brush is clear, allowed the machine to cool for an hour, and it still shuts down immediately or won't turn on while fully charged, an internal electrical component may require expert replacement. Please do not attempt to dismantle the sealed motor casing yourself. Connect with our Customer Support Team right away.
