Sterra Beam — Display Shows F9Updated 14 hours ago
If your Sterra Beam display screen is showing the error code F9, your device's built-in obstruction safety sensors have been activated.
This specific code indicates a Brush Roll Resistance Interruption (often called a minor brush motor overload). It triggers when the spinning floor brush encounters too much resistance—usually from a buildup of tangled hair, carpet fibers, or a small object trapped in the roller. To prevent the motor from straining or overheating, the smart safety board instantly cuts power to the brush head and pauses the device.
How to Clear the F9 Error Code
Resolving this code is simple and safely manageable at home. Please walk through this step-by-step cleaning and reset process:
Power Off the Device
Press the power button to turn your Sterra Beam completely OFF. For your absolute safety, never attempt to clean or clear the brush head while the display screen is turned on.
Clear the Brush Area
Flip the vacuum head over to access the bottom roller. Carefully check for any tangled hair, strings, threads, or trapped debris wrapped around the brush bar or wedged into the side gears. Use a pair of scissors to carefully snip away tightly wound hair, and ensure the brush roll can rotate freely by hand.
Let the Motor Cool Down
Leave the device turned off for about 15 to 20 minutes. This gives the brush motor a brief rest to completely dissipate any minor heat buildup caused by fighting the obstruction.
Restart the Sterra Beam.
Stand the vacuum back up, press the power button, and turn it ON. The internal computer will run a clean startup check, confirm the brush roll is spinning freely, and automatically clear the F9 code.
What to Do If the F9 Code Returns
For nearly all users, clearing away the hair and debris wraps completely solves the problem. However, if you have thoroughly cleaned the brush roller, verified it spins flawlessly by hand, let it cool down, and the F9 code reappears the moment you turn the motor back on, there may be a loose wire or a deeper component fault.
